Our Story

StayMohr is building the connected infrastructure international buyers and owners need to navigate Japanese property — from first search through long-term operation.

Why StayMohr Exists

Japanese property is difficult to navigate in English.

The problem

Listings, documents, earthquake risks, running costs, service providers, and ownership responsibilities are fragmented across different systems, languages, and regions. Most resources assume fluency in Japanese and proximity to the property.

The opportunity

More international buyers, investors, second-home owners, retirees, and hospitality operators want access to Japanese property than ever before — but the tools have not kept pace.

The StayMohr approach

Connect discovery, education, planning, professionals, community, and ownership operations in one place — designed for English-speaking users, powered by local expertise.

Data Provenance

We preserve source information and confidence levels. When data is uncertain, we say so.

Professional Boundaries

We partner with licensed agents, certified architects, and registered advisors. We respect regulated professional roles.

Privacy

Account data, property details, messages, and documents are protected by design. We collect only what we need.

International Focus

Our Story

Born from a real property journey.

StayMohr grew from firsthand experience navigating the complexity of buying and owning property in Japan as a foreigner. The listings existed, but the context around them — risk, cost, neighbourhood quality, professional help, long-term operations — was scattered, untranslated, or simply missing.

We started building the tools we wished existed: a discovery engine that goes beyond price and photos, an education layer that explains what matters, a planning framework that turns interest into strategy, and a services network that connects owners with the people who can actually help.

The result is StayMohr — one connected platform for the entire property journey, designed for international users, built with respect for local expertise.

Japan + International

Built between Japan and the world.

Japanese property markets operate through systems, terminology, and professional structures that have evolved for domestic participants. International buyers encounter information that is fragmented, untranslated, and structured around assumptions of local residency.

StayMohr occupies the space between these two worlds — translating Japanese property context into English-language clarity, connecting international decision-making with local professional execution, and designing tools that work for owners who may never live near their property.

Missions & Ministry

Property can be more than an investment.

StayMohr was founded by a Christian family with a conviction that the tools, knowledge, and relationships we build should also serve missionaries, pastors, and churches in Japan.

With less than 1% of Japan identifying as Christian and over 9 million vacant houses across the country, we see an intersection between an enormous spiritual need and an enormous physical resource.
